You started washing, and after a while found a puddle of dirty water on the floor and error code E9, LE, LC or LE 1 on your Samsung washing machine display.
Sometimes the error LE / E9 appears almost immediately after you switch on the machine:
- in a couple of seconds after the start of the program;
- after a few minutes: at first, the Samsung machine simultaneously pours and drains the water, and then displays error LE.
It happens that the error occurs at the stage of washing or rinsing for no reason with no visible signs of any leakages.
In Samsung models without a display, this error lights up the indicators of Bio 60°С temperature and the cold wash, and all mode indicators as well.
Error description
The error codes LE, LC, E9, LE1 mean the same thing – a leak or water drain from the tank. If the pressure switch records the water level drop in the drum 4 times in a row within a few minutes – it will light up the error LE, E9, etc..
Note! Error E9 is typical for the early models of Samsung machines manufactured before 2007.
Samsung washers, equipped with aqua stop function, also have a special leakage sensor placed in the pallet under the washing machine. If the water fills the pallet, the sensor floats up, the washing machine stops washing and displays the error code on the screen.
LE error can be caused both by serious malfunctions requiring professional help and trivial problems that can be fixed independently.
Error LE, E9 – in which cases you can fix it by yourself
- Check the drain hose, you may have forgotten to put its end in a bathtub or toilet bowl if the drain is arranged in this way. The leaks in the place of connection of a hose with the sewerage might represent another cause.
- If the Samsung washing machine fills and immediately drains the water at the first wash after the installation and then displays the code LE or E9, then the possible cause is a self-draining. Check the connection of the drain hose to the sewer. If the connection point is below the drum level and the hose does not make the upper loop before “entering” into the sewage, then the water leaves the washing machine by itself. Connect the machine drain correctly or call a specialist who will do it for you.
- It is possible that after the last wash you cleaned the drain filter. Make sure it is tightly screwed and does not let the water pass through.
- If the water is leaking from the detergent tray, and a LE, E9 or LE1 error is displayed, check the dispenser tray for clogging. If you rarely wash the tray, the washing powder or bleacher can block the tray, and there’s simply no place for water to leave but to pour out of the bunker to the floor.
- The occurrence of this error after the appearance of foam from the dispenser might signal two things. First – possible problems with the powder. If it of poor quality, and is not intended for use in automatic machines, or if you put too much of it in the tray, then the foam from the dispenser is a normal reaction. Solve the problem with the powder, and the LE error will not happen again. Secondly, if you wash porous or fluffy things, then reduce the portion of the powder by 2 times. Porosity promotes increased foaming, which leads to excessive foam with the water coming from the dispenser and errors on the screen of the washing machine.
- Check the connections of the nozzles inside the washing machine: from the dispenser to the drum of the washing machine and from the drum to the pump. It may be that the clamps were loosened and the connection points got leakages.
- If the error appears for the first time, try unplugging the machine from the grid for 5 to 10 minutes, and then insert the plug into the outlet again. It is possible that there was a failure in the control module – the “brains” of the washing machine – and the restart will help with this issue.
- Check if there is any other kind of leakage from other sources such as sewage or plumbing which leads to the appearance of water in the Samsung washing machine pallet, triggering an aqua stop and the occurrence of LE error.
- Check all the contacts and connections of the cables leading to the pressure switch and the leakage sensor inside the pallet (if the design of your Samsung machine is equipped with aqua stop system). Perhaps, they have disconnections. In such case, they need to be connected again.
If these tips did not help to fix the error E9, LE or LE1, then it’s a breakdown, and your washing machine needs professional repair.
