Frigidaire dishwasher won't start, here's how to fix it

Frigidaire kitchen appliances are known for their reliability, but sometimes they break down too. If you find that your dishwasher suddenly stops turning on when you press the Start button, the indicator is off, then do not rush to call the wizard – many faults can be eliminated on your own.
The most common startup problems are caused by reasons such as:

  • Burnt out thermal fuse of the control panel;
  • Damage to the touch panel ribbon cable;
  • Incorrect power connection.

Consider all the problems that you can fix at home.

If the dishwasher does not turn on

The dishwasher switch should be checked first to make sure it hasn’t actually tripped. The handle of the switch must be turned to the OFF position and then turned on again. In most cases, the machine starts up without problems.
If the indicator is on after pressing the power button, but the machine does not start, then it is possible that an automatic lock is set. To eliminate this problem, press the button with the lock icon and hold it for 3 seconds. Then the machine will automatically unlock and start working.

Some models have a child lock to prevent them from turning on the machine while playing. If you set this lock and forget about it, then when you press the Start button, the machine will not start. First, you need to press and hold the DELAYED START button for a few seconds until the indicator with the lock icon turns off and a beep sounds.

The Frigidaire Dishwasher turns on but does not start

Sometimes the machine can turn on, but it will not start. In this case, check if the door is closed. If the door is not tightly closed, the machine will not start automatically. Also, the water supply may not be turned on – check the connection, taps. Another reason for not starting could be incorrect cycle setting. Just open the instructions and set the desired wash and dry cycle.
It happens that the Frigidaire machine has turned on, the indicators are on, but the dishwasher does not start working. When you click the Start button, nothing happens. In this case, the HIGH TEMP or HEAT DRY buttons may flash, but do not respond to pressing.

In this case, the problem may be with the ribbon cable and touch panel. Most likely, moisture got inside through the seal of the control board housing and corroded the ribbon cable contacts.
To correct the problem, open the front control panel and clean any corrosion on the ribbon cable pins. In most cases, this is sufficient. But if this method did not help, then the problem must be looked for in the touch panel itself.

The Frigidaire dishwasher is not working and the panel lights are off

If, when you try to turn on the machine, the indicators do not light up, the dishwasher does not turn on, the buttons do not respond to pressing, then you should check the connection of the junction box under the dishwasher on the right side.

If during installation the cable was incorrectly connected to the junction box, then after some time the wires may burn out, lose connection and because of this the machine will stop turning on.
Before starting repairs, completely de-energize the dishwasher, unplug it from the outlet. Then inspect the connecting wires, strip and reconnect to the connectors. Switch on the machine after finishing work. If it works, then the problem has been completely fixed.

Blown thermal fuse

Another problem that can occur when the Frigidaire dishwasher does not start or does not work at all is if the thermal fuse on the control panel has blown.
The thermal fuse is an important element of the machine design. It prevents overheating of the control panel and burning of electronic boards. If overheating or short circuit occurs, the fuse will blow and should be replaced with a new one.
