AEG Dishwasher Troubleshooting

The full name of the German brand AEG is Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft AG. The division responsible for manufacturing dishwashers, washers, ovens etc. is called AEG Hausgeräte. It is part of Electrolux.

The water is not pumped away- Is the drain hose kinked? Check the run of the hose

The crockery is not clean- Have you selected a program that is suitable for the type and degree of soiling of your crockery?
- Have you arranged the crockery so that the sprayed water has access to all surfaces, both internal and external? The crockery baskets must not be overfilled.
- Was the spray arm blocked by crockery or pieces of cutlery?
- Are the spray arm nozzles clean?
- Are all the filters in the bese of your dishwasher clean? Have the filters been installed correctly?
- Have you used the correct amount of detergent?
- Is the drain hose correctly filted.
- Is the on-site sink drain blocked?
- Is there salt in the salt dispenser? Without it, the water will not be softened. Lime deposits can form on your crockery and in the machine.
- Has the water softener system been set to the local water hardness?
The crockery is not dry, and has no sparkle.- Is there rinse aid in the dispenser?
- Has the salt dosage been correctly set?
Glasses and dishes have streaks, stripes, milky blotches or blue-coloured bloom.- The rinse aid is being overdosed. Set a lower rinse aid dosage
Glasses and dishes have dried-on "water drops".- The rinse aid is being underdosed. Set the rinse aid dosage higher.
- Is the lid of the salt container properly closed?
Rust marks can be seen in the washing area.- The dishwasher interior is made of stainless steel. Rust marks inside the dishwasher are caused by external rust (rust particles from the water piping, from pans, cutlery etc.). Remove such marks using a commercially-available stainless steel cleaner.
- Was the "Pre-rinse" program started immediately after refilling the salt?

The crockery is not clean.- Have you selected a programme that is suitable for the type and degree of soiling of your crockery?
- Have you arranged the crockery so that the sprayed water has access to all surfaces, both internal and external? The crockery baskets must not be overfilled.
- Have the spray arms been obstructed by crockery or cutlery? Please note that, for better drainage of residual water at the programme end, the upper spray arm obliquely tilts when it comes to rest. When operational, it automatically runs in the horizontal position.
- Are all strainers at the bottom of your dishwasher clean? Are the strainers inserted properly
- Have you used sufficient detergent? Is the drain hose correctly run?
- Is there still salt in the salt container? Without special salt, the water will not be softened. At water hardnesses above 4°d, lime deposits will form on your dishes
- Have you set the water softener to the local water hardness?
The dishes do not dry and have no sparkle.- Have you used a brand-named rinse-aid?
- Is there sufficient rinse-aid in the dispenser?
Glasses and dishes have streaks, stripes, milky blotches, or blue-coloured blooms.- The rinse-aid is being overdosed. Set a lower rinse-aid dosage
Glasses and dishes have dried-on water drops.- The rinse-aid is being underdosed. Set a higher rinse-aid dosage

In case of hard-wiring: turn off the electricity supply, remove the fuse and disconnect. Telephone the AEG Customer Service Department to register the fault.

- Were the spray arms blocked by crockery or cutlery?
- Please note: the upper spray arm tilts when not in use. This allows all the water to drip out of the spray arm. In operation, it automatically runs in a horizontal position.
- Are all filters in the filter assembly clean? Are all the filters correctly set up?
- Have you added the correct amount of detergent?
- Is the drainage pipe correctly laid out?
- Is there still salt in the salt container? Without salt, the water is not softened. Water hardness greater than 4°Clarke can lead to lime formation on the dishes
The dishes are not dried and have no sparkle- have you used rinse aid?
- Is there any rinse aid left in the dispenser?
There are streaks, stripes, milky flecks or blue-shiny deposit on the glasses and dishes.- there is too much rinse aid. Set the rinse aid dosage at a lower level.
There are dried-on water stains on the glasses and dishes there is too little rinse aid. Set the rinse aid dosage higher.
Rust stains are visible in the interior of the machine- the wash area is made of non-corrosive steel. Rust stains in the wash area can be attributed to external rust. (Rust particles from the water supply, from pots, cutlery etc.). Remove these flecks with a normal steel cleaner.

Whistling noise during the dishwashing cycle- You may possibly need to seek a remedy by using another branded detergent. The whistling is completely harmless..
